Blogging Tip: Start a Blog Calendar

If you are a blogger and you take your blog seriously, chances are, you have a lot of important dates to remember. There are daily link-ups, articles posted on certain days (example: Thrifty Thursdays), giveaway ending dates, guest post and review deadlines, blog extravaganzas, and more. It can become overwhelming if you aren't tracking these dates, so I recommend starting a blog calendar.

I started a blog calendar at the beginning of January. In fact, it happens to be 1 out of the 4 free calendars I received in the mail! I use one calendar for my personal life and decided to use one for my blog only. On my blog calendar, I write in my specific blog events, such as Giveaway Wednesdays, Ask the Readers Thursdays, Frugal Friday Blog Hop, Super Savings Weekend Link Up for each day of the week. It serves as a reminder to make sure these are posted the night before or the day of.

I also include all of my giveaway ending dates on my calendar. Some blogs give away several items at once and could have five or more different ending dates going on at one time. Keep up with the dates by writing them in your calendar.

If you have have room in your calendar (and if you don't you may want to keep a separate calendar for just blog statistics), keep track of your daily stats or Alexa rank by writing it in after the end of each day.  By doing this, you can take a look at your blog progress and get a good idea of what days of the week your traffic is heaviest and lowest. From looking at my statistics on my calendar, I always know that the weekends are very low. This is to be expected since most families are spending time together and many are traveling or on vacation.

I love being able to find everything I need on my blog calendar and it has helped me to organize my blogging. I hope that you find it helpful, too, and would love for you to keep in touch with me on how it works for you.

  1. What a great idea. I will keep this in mind over the next few weeks as I begin my journey of blogging.

  2. I have tried several different calendars but I think I need to get a big one that I can actually write in. Google calendar isn't cutting it!

  3. I love this idea! I have been using bookmark folders for each day of the week, but a blogging calendar would work so much better.

  4. That's a great idea, I might just have to do this.

Thank you for participating in last week’s Wednesday Window @ Frugality Is Free. I hope you’ll stop by to link up your favorite blog post this week as well.
