Whew! It Has Been A Busy Week!

Where did this past week go?

I have been a busy bee this past week and it caught up with me. I just spent the evening "speed cleaning" after I put my baby girl to bed and I realized I still have so much to do!

Today was a good day though. We had rain for about 5 days straight and finally today was a beautiful, sunny day with blue skies! We attended a two year olds birthday party this morning and had a great time playing outside at the park.

Then I came home, my daughter and I took naps, and we woke up and headed to the mall to get my fall wardrobe taken care of. I have no clothes from last season that fit me. It felt good to go into stores today and be able to fit into size 5s and 7s! I used to be a size 18! Everything I was trying on was looking cute. I guess thats because I didn't have anything bulging over for the first time in my life. I was very pleased and scored LOTS of great deals and used several store coupons on my purchases. I realized this morning when it was cool out that I was going to be in trouble if I didn't head out and get new clothes immediately! I even scored a few cute clothes for my baby girl. Some of them were *free* since I used my Once Upon a Child store credit!  Tonight I am going to play catch up on some housework and putting everything from the mall away.

Be sure to check tomorrows paper for any new coupons and keep coming back to find the best deals. I haven't seen too many good free samples come through lately, but will post them as soon as I see them!

Have a great weekend and you will hear more back from me tomorrow! Thanks for reading about "my day." Just felt like sharing with someone out there!

My New Etsy Shop!

Some of you know that I have enjoyed my sewing so far. I have already made several little projects for practice but didn't know what to do with them just yet. I had a friend tell me about Etsy so I thought I would try it out. You can see my Etsy shop on the left sidebar. Check out what I have made in the last two days! I posted the picture of the Dora pillow in a previous post that I made for my daughters big girl bed. Pillows are currently my specialty, until I can try something else. I hope to explore further after I have more practice perfecting my pillows! I also sew ribbon onto burp cloths, which add a special touch! I even experimented with a coaster today! It's cute and matches my decor in my house!

My Favorite Thrift Store Find

I had the chance to make it to a thrift store today. I found all of these brand new Eric Carle, "The Very Hungry Catepillar" board books, for $1.50 a piece. The cover price is $10.99. I purchased all of them because we have so many ladies in the squadron that have babies and birthday parties, and I have a lot of kids in the family to pass them on to! I may be giving one away as a part of the October giveaway!

Look at What I Made Today!

I already love sewing and I have been doing it for two days now. Here is the Dora pillow that made for my daughters big girl bed! I am amazed at how much cheaper it is to make vs. buying them from the store already made. Why didn't I start this earlier? A sewing machine is an investment. My goal is to create a few gifts along with some clothes in the future. Starting small now to get practice.

Wow! Check Out This Free Sample!

I saw this on my doorstep just now and thought, hmm, a nice package! I open it and its the H.K. Anderson Free Pretzel Samples! This was a very generous sample. In fact, if I were to find these in the store, I would probably buy them just because they were so generous!

Included:

5 oz. bag of Peanut Butter filled nuggets
3.5 oz. bag of Salty Stix
4 oz. bag of Double Baked Butter Balls
3.5 oz. bag of Honey Wheat Braids

Thank you, H.K. Anderson! Can't wait to try them!

My Last Project of the Night

This is my last project of the night. This cost less than $1.00 to make. It is about an 11.5 in. X 11.5 inch.
I will most likely gift this to someone that has black and white decor. I have found that I love adding ribbon. As I was creating this one, I figured that I could start making bags and lots more!

I think I found another hobby. Add that to my blogging, photography, gardening, exercising! Being a stay at home mom has helped me to find out what I am made of! :)

I Am Learning to Sew!

I finally did it! I bought a sewing machine since I had this sudden urge to learn how to sew recently and I practiced with a few things! The first project is a pillow. I used some leftover fabric that a friend had to play around with. I didn't know what to expect, but here is how it came out. I have a lot of learning to do. I want to make my daugthers Dora the Explorer pillow for her bedroom eventually after I master this. I am currently working on a black and white one before bedtime tonight with some ribbon attached just for fun.

Here is a burp cloth with a special touch, great for gifts. You can buy a 12 pack of plain white Gerber burp cloths at Wal-Mart and sew a pretty piece of ribbon across to make them extra special!

I am so glad I got over my fear of the sewing machine. I am hooked! I will keep you updated on projects I will be working on in the future!

Coupon Organizing During "The Biggest Loser"

UPDATE: Done! It took 45 minutes to get all of these in my binder in the correct spot! Now I have an hour and fifteen minutes to enjoy "The Biggest Loser!"

This is what my kitchen counter looks like during my coupon organizing. Keep in mind that this looks like a lot of work when in fact, its not! I sort them out and then place them in the correct category in my binder. Because "The Biggest Loser" is a two hour show, I have lots of time to get them organized! I'm quite the Multitasker! Coupon organizing is best to do during times like these, when you are in front of the T.V! I have a big shopping trip planned tomorrow so I will have everything the way I need it before I head to the store, saving me lots of money!
