Holiday Traditions

Today I spent the day with family. It was a wonderful day. Each year we get together with my husbands side of the family and have a "cookie day." We spend several hours baking cookies and decorating them, along with making other desserts, such as Oreo Balls, Chocolate Peanut Clusters, Chocolate Peanut Butter Crackers, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Oatmeal Cookies, Peanut Butter Cookies, and more! And, I can't leave out the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo that we eat for lunch, before the fun begins! All of the cookies and desserts made are divided up and placed into our own personal cookie tins to take home to be enjoyed.

This was the first year that my two year old really was able to help out. She enjoyed playing in the dough and using the cookie cutters to create cute cookie shapes. Her clothes were covered in flour, but that part seemed to make it even more special, and it was kinda cute. She loved being the center of attention in front of all of the cousins as she sang her "ABCs" several times. What a day to remember. I love holiday traditions.

What holiday traditions you you or your family participate in each year?

  1. How sweet :-)
Warner's family plays a seriously intense game of charades every Thanksgiving. I humiliate my self every year, but we all laugh until it hurts!
Glad you're having a nice holiday in Texas!!!
